April 03, 2018
Wauneta-Palisade students were honored at the Nebraska State Capitol on Monday, April 2, 2018 as winners in the 2018 Nebraska811 Pirate Adventure Poster Contest when Governor Pete Ricketts proclaimed April 2018 National Safe Digging Month. The One Call Board of Directors chose the winning posters. WP 3rd graders Addalyn Einspahr and Kenzie Bardsley, and 5th graders Ashton Wheeler, Grayden Sutherland, Nate Blackman and Collin Bley were the winning artists. Their posters were displayed at the Nebraska State Capitol on April 2, and will be featured on a billboard near us very soon!
As winners, WP will receive a complimentary bench, commemorative plaque and a tree to plant, along with an on-site educational presentation including a cookie party and tree planting to celebrate the knowledge of the importance to “Call Before You Dig”! Nebraska Senator Dan Hughes will be invited to help celebrate this great event.
Congratulations WP students for your artistic skills and digging knowledge!
